The story of Tensei Shitara Slime follows Satoru Mikami’s journey after he dies and is reincarnated as a slime in Fantasyland. A slime is a creature that copies the form and powers of anything it absorbs or eats.

Satoru begins eating all the magical herbs and crystals found in the cave he woke up in and finds a captured dragon that cannot move due to the barrier. Since they both had nothing else to do, they became friends with each other. The dragon accidentally makes Satoru a named monster, and Satoru promises him that he will find a way to break the barrier. And from here begins an unknown journey with this unusual friendship.
