I thought there was a lot left on the table for me. The thing is, they never planned for me to be on the show beyond one season. I signed up to guest star in my first season, and when my character was really broken and people really loved the character, they were not ready for it to happen. I ended up being on the show for five years in total, but my character had to get out of the way so Sookie could finish the A and B segments with Bill and Eric. The only way to get me out of the way is to shoot me in the face. I really felt like there was a lot that wasn’t explored.

[I’m] I’m always looking for a good script for my werewolf because…I feel like there’s a lot inside of me that’s unfinished. I have unfinished business in the werewolf department.

Although the seventh season of True Blood achieved significant viewership, it disappointed many fans of the series.

This is due to the shocking montage of deaths that begins with Rutina Wilsey’s Tara and includes Manganiello’s character as well.

It ended with Sookie delivering Bill into the arms of “true death,” and what could have been a shocking climax was bland and generic.

In 2020, there was buzz among fans of the show about a possible True Blood revival. This reboot promised a more satisfying outcome than before. However, even with original creator Alan Ball returning, the project was canceled in February 2023 due to broader budget cuts at Warner Bros. Pictures. Discovery.

Even though HBO has put a hold on the True Blood reboot, that doesn’t mean it’s off the table forever. Just like the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, there’s always the possibility of a True Blood reboot. If that happens, hopefully we’ll get a better outcome for Alcide Herveaux.
